Student Learning Outcomes

Following the completion of GGR 480C, students will be able to:

  • Visually interpret and explain human and physical landscapes from the perspectives of environmental and geologic processes, cultural geography, political economy, globalization, and historical geography.
  • Conduct primary and secondary geographical research through a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods in the field.
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative geographical data, and synthesize that data into meaningful, holistic knowledge.
  • Effectively communicate geographical concepts, knowledge, and research findings in both written and oral forms.
  • Design and construct effective thematic and reference maps with computer-based cartographic software to graphically communicate spatial information.
  • Apply geographic concepts to understand local and regional environmental resource issues and challenges.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership and teamwork skills in a variety of geographical research tasks and problem-solving situations.
  • Exhibit and maintain consistent professional behavior expected of geographers conducting fieldwork in adverse situations and public places.
