Minimum Qualifications
* A Ph.D. in Geography
(or closely related field), emphasis in GIS, must be
completed by August 2003.
* The applicant must be able to contribute to the Geographic
Information Management emphases degree programs in the
Department of Geography, Planning and Recreation, as well
as a new post-graduate GIS certificate program.
* Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to a high
quality teaching agenda and an enthusiasm to contribute
to the development of a young and growing department.
Knowledge, Skills
& Abilities
* Candidates having
a topical emphasis in Physical Geography, Natural Resources
Management, or Environmental Planning will rate the
highest.
* Experience with ArcInfo, ArcView and CAD is desired.
* Prior teaching experience at the college level is
desired.
* Ability to work with people from a variety of culturally
diverse backgrounds.
Annual Salary
* $35,000 - $45,000
depending on experience.

The Geography and Public Planning Department is located
in the College of Ecosystem Science and Management and maintains
close ties to the NAU School of Forestry and Parks and Recreation
program. The Department emphasizes an understanding of the
interrelationships between earth resources and humankind.
The program is committed providing individualized attention
to the needs of students through small classes, field experiences,
and internship programs. Areas of research and teaching
include physical and cultural geography, arid lands, planning
in rural and small-town communities, public land development
and management, spatial analysis, remote sensing, cartography
and GIS.
Northern Arizona University is located in Flagstaff, Arizona,

is situated at the base of the San Francisco Peaks and is
