IGU Commission on Tourism, Leisure and Global Change Sessions
UGI Géographie du Tourisme et des Loisirs et Changement Global
The IGU Commission on Tourism, Leisure and Global Change (C04.16) will organise presentation and panel sessions to take place at the main congress. The overall objective of the Commission is the development and application of an international research program on the relationships between tourism, leisure and global change in geographical contexts.
The Commission is not organising pre- or post-meeting in Tunis. Instead we are working with the Tunis congress organizers to hold all tourism paper and panel sessions on two days of the meeting (Wednesday 13 August and Thursday 14 August). Participants will have the option of registering for just those two days, if they do not want to register for the entire meeting.
Papers on all tourism topics are welcome, though the commission especially invites papers in the following themes:

Tourism Commission Preferred Excursions (see other options)
While you may register for any of the excursions offered on the Tunis Congress website, the Tourism Commission has selected the following excursions as our preferred commission activities.
EE.08. The Cap-Bon (Saturday 16 Aug)
Africa’s spearhead towards a Europe distant of only 140 kms, the Cap Bon constitutes an interesting Mediterranean space-interface and is reputed for its economic vitality, the mobility of its inhabitants and its subsequent spatial mutations. The excursion will highlight the diversity of agrarian landscapes and of industrial and handicraft activities. The big spatial and social mutations generated by the tourist industry will also be at the heart of the themes suggested, in an area where socio-economic dynamics exercise an ever growing pressure on a weakened, fragile milieu.
EE.10. Jebel Zaghouan (Sunday 17 Aug)
For this excursion, emphasis will be laid on the observation of vegetal formations in a Mediterranean milieu (Tetraclinaie, pine forests, iliçaies). The visit to Zaghouan National Park, to some elements from the Carthage aqueduct and to the Oudhna archaeological site, will complete the observation.
Registration for the excursions here
Looking forward to seeing you in Tunis!
Yours sincerely
