Conference Location
Conference sessions will be held at the University of Antilles and Guyane, on the Schoelcher campus (a suburb of Fort-de-France).
The conference will provide transportation to the university from the hotels above at no additional cost to participants. Reservations with the conference organizers may be required for some locations and times.
Participants staying at les Trois Îlets must pay the transportation by boat on their own (about 2.5 euros for each crossing of the bay). The conference will provide bus or car transportation from the boat dock in the port of Fort-de-France.
Flight Suggestions
It is generally cheaper to fly to St. Lucia (SLU & UVC) or Barbados (BGI) and then take a flight or ferry from their to Martinique (FDF). Connecting flights can be booked separately on Liat Airlines, Air Caraibes or Air Antilles. Other options include the windward islands of Guadeloupe (PTP) and Dominica (DOM). Note that one-way prices to these islands can be as cheap as half of a round trip, which could allow you to fly into Barbados, then to Martinique, then to St. Lucia, then home. Another resource is CaribbeanJet.com.
Ferry services do not run every day and are only scheduled about two to three months in advance (so look for them in November). Also be prepared for occasional rough waters between the islands and potentially lengthy immigration delays (1+ hours at times) when arriving by boat.
Airport Transfers
Transfer from the Martinique airport to the hotels is available by taxi at a cost of about 25 euros. Travel time is about 20 minutes during off-peak perions, 40 to 45 minutes during peak congestions times.
The conference will provide free transfers between the airport and hotels during the major periods when participants will arrive and depart. You must provide your arrival and departure information (flight number and time) to the conference organizers by January 1st to be eligible for this service. Unfortunately, we cannot provide transfers for participants arriving or departing outside of the normal periods for the conference.
