Graduate Association for Geography

November 6, 2003

 

1.       Geography Awareness Week 2003: Party

a.       When: November 21, 2003 12:30-2:00 p.m.

b.      Where: Forestry Building lobby

c.       Food: Catered by Sydescoàcan request particulars: cider, punch, smores.

d.      Ice Breakers: Kathy and Emily will investigate possible icebreakers for the party

e.       Research posters: Bob will contact professors to attain past research posters to hang during party

f.        Give-aways: Debbie will provide new GPR shirts, mugs, etc. for icebreaker game give-aways

g.       Setup: Nicole, Jessica, Chris, Alisa, Jill, and Bob will help

h.      Music: Chris

i.        Flyers: Alisa made flyer—can send out in email invitation as well as hang up around campus

j.        Geography Awareness Week 2004: will start planning during spring semester, 2004àbigger & better

2.    Web page: currently in Microsoft Frontpage

a.       now working but outdated

            b.  Kerstin and Emily will post all grad profiles on webpageàdeadline to fill out profile: end of this semester

3.       Vote on name

a.       It was decided to put out a suggestion box at the GAW party and take a vote on the new name.

b.      It was recommended to incorporate the new department—i.e. Geography, Planning and Recreation in the new graduate organization name

c.       Some suggestions at the meeting:

1.      G.O.D.: Geography Opening Doors

      2.   G.O.: Geography Organization

      3.    others?

4.      Treasury Report

a.     Current Total: $290.00

a.        It was suggested that we find another faculty member to take over while Sam is ill.

b.       Next Meeting: at Uptown BilliardsàThursday’s work for most people.
