Student Comments on GGR 241 received during the semester (so I knew who the students were)
I like learning the interesting facts about these countries. I feel like you have done a better job telling me about the geogrpahy and even history of these countries better than all my history and geography in high school.
I really do enjoy the class and is easily the one I talk about the most with all the interesting facts I learned. I didn't think the tourism and geography class was going to go so smoothly and I have to tell you it's exceeded my expectations and truly enjoy the class.
I really liked your audio each week. Your audio's gave me pointers or tips and it added a special touch to the course. Thanks!
The text was a surprisingly enjoyable read. It was, I felt well-rounded in terms of history, culture, and physical geography.
Checkins are great, I'm surprise other professors don't use them more often. I feel I have a voice. It has been a pleasure professor.
Overall I enjoyed this class and the way you had everything setup. You made this online course very easy to navigate through and understand the required expectations.
Thank you for a nice class in this and 240. I enjoyed 240, which was taken as an elective over the summer, and needed still another elective, so I took 241. The last time I took geography was in high school and I wont say how long it was, but this was my second time back to college.
I have encountered many different varieties of on-line classes and yours was amongst the higher quality. Your instructors and you responded to e-mails within a reasonable amount of time and grades were always prompt.
I like that the class exposes us to recent international news that I otherwise wouldn't know about.
I work at a global company and am learning much more about why sales are so difficult in some regions and countries.
This class is a lot more work than I was expecting, but I do find it interesting and enjoyable. I don't have a very strong political background and I like that this class exposes me a little bit to international politics and issues.
The class has been a fun challenge so far. The class is fast paced (Summer Session), but I seem to be doing well...Overall, I am learning quite a bit, a like the format and content.
I really like the emphasis on tourism in the textbook and class in general. I think it helps to better understand the countries because it talks about why people would want to go see these places.
It is not just a book for school, it is also perfect for someone who want to travel. It makes it interesting.
This was my first online class, so it was hard to transition, but now I feel I'm used to how it works. ... I'm enjoying this class a lot more than I anticipated, thanks.
So far I surprisingly like this class. Especially since world geography isn't a strength of mine. Also this is my first online class by the feel of it, probably won't be my last.
I just wanted to say that I like this class and I have learned a great deal of information about these regions of the world we have studied. I wasn't sure about the mapping assigments at first but they turned out to be my most favorite. I have never created a map before using google maps. I had no problems in this class and I liked it because the assignments were well explained, straightforward, and full of useful information as well. Also- for an online class it was nice to have an instructor reply to emails in a timely fashion, thank you!
Because of this class I was able to easily answer two questions about geography in the Sunday NY Times crossword this weekend! ... I plan to finish reading the book! Plus it's staying in my library.
I think the class was great. I learned so much. I really didn't expect the class to be as enjoyable as it was. Thanks for everything.
I really appreciate the speed at which the instructor replies to messages. Its helpful to have an active and easy to reach instructor, especially online.
Comments from annonymous end of semester course evaluations
A well structured class that was easy to follow, the instructor would answer e-mial within 24 hrs or less. He was more than fair in grading and evaluations. The class was structured for learning.
This was my first web class in my college experience and after taking this
one I will take more.
Course was very organized and easy to follow. Test, exams and essays were planned
ahead and the student knew what to expect, when. Good class!!
This was certainly the best organized course I have taken. The instructor was
very prompt in replying to e-mail and extremely helpful. I wish all of my courses
were comparable to this one!
This was a great class that increased my interest in geography. I am an accounting
major and it was nice to have some different material in my coursework. I would
recommend this class to others and am looking forward to taking US georgraphy
in the spring. The only downfall of this course were the quizzes. They tested
very specific facts that were hard to find and remember.
This class was a lot of fun. Learnt a lot. Thank you
Excellent teacher, I especially like the idea that you can retake the quiz
and it is open book and gives you a chance to completely cover the readings
over and over again to understand the text. I think that is excellent and I
did learn a lot.
I loved this class though it was difficult and very rushed. Thanks for the
knowledge I gained and the knowledge you possess.
It really is a great class and even though it is a web class, i am amazed at
how well you can learn about the professor and how much they know and how much
you can actually learn. It took some work but it was indeed a learning experience.
Interest class which gave me some insight about other cultures throughout the
world, which I know I will not be able to visit. It was great to finally get
an idea what the other regions are about. I enjoyed Dr. Lew's class and I learned
a lot.
