Hofstra University seeks an Assistant Professor of Geography to fill a new tenure-track line available in January 1999.  Ability to develop and teach GIS courses is required.  East Asia is the preferred regional specialty.  Topical specialties may include economic, political, environmental, or cultural geography.

A representative of the department will attend each of the following regional AAG meetings:

                Middle States @ Rutgers University: October 9-10
                Pacific Coast @ Northern Arizona University: Oct. 14-18
                New England/St. Lawrence in Montreal: October 16-18

Candidates are strongly encouraged to attend one of these meetings.

Hofstra University is located on Long Island, east of New York City.  It is a comprehensive university with a strong liberal arts component.  Undergraduate teaching is valued highly and an active research agenda leading to scholarly presentations and publications is essential for promotion and tenure.
